Shop – Dine – Play – Live – WorkMerrifield is a neighborhood located in a section of Fairfax County, Virginia bounded by I-66 on the north, the Capital Beltway on the east, Arlington Boulevard on the south, and Nutley Street on the west.
Before its redevelopment and revitalization, Merrifield was known for its industrial park and quirky retail landscape lined with traffic tie-ups and fast food restaurants.
Now, Merrifield is a destination—a vibrant community with a small-town neighborhood feel. The latest stage in Merrifield’s development came when Edens, a private retail developer based in Columbia, South Carolina, chose Merrifield to create the 31-acre LEED-certified Mosaic District.
The Mosaic District opened in the Fall of 2012 with restaurants, shops, a 150-room Hyatt House hotel, an Angelika Film Center, and 73,000 square feet of office space. It features specialty food shops, exciting restaurants, entertainment options including an oversized outdoor movie screen and a one-acre park, office space and residential. Eventually the development will include 500,000 square feet of retail space and 1,000 residential units. The goal is to create a walkable neighborhood perfect for living and working.
The Dunn Loring-Merrifield and Vienna Metro stations on the Orange line lie within the Merrifield boundaries.
