Costumes for Kids Fall Volunteer Festival invites families to prepare costumes for elementary school children in low-resource communities
Kids Give Back, a nonprofit that encourages elementary-age students to volunteer, will host its second-annual Costumes for Kids Fall Volunteer Festival on October 15, 12-3 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 8922 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax. The event brings kids and their families together to prepare 80 storybook character costumes for students who attend Title 1 schools in Northern Virginia.
In addition to preparing costumes, attendees will make pumpkins for donation to All Ages Read Together and Sunrise Assisted Living and make fleece pillows for donation to schools. Attendees will also enjoy traditional festival activities, including:
- Pumpkin painting
- Face painting
- A Cake Walk
- Treats from Toby’s Ice Cream
- Raffle baskets
- Silent Auction
"Through these events, children learn about the importance of volunteering and how the projects they work on benefit the community," said Denise Gavilan, Founder and Executive Director, Kids Give Back. “We make volunteering fun by bringing families and friends together for an afternoon of service that will bring joy to many individuals in Fairfax County.”
Festival tickets are $10/person and free for ages five and under. Details are available at www.kidsgiveback.org/events.
Kids Give Back welcomes raffle baskets, donations, and items for the Silent Auction and offers sponsorships for this event starting at $300.
